OTTAWA (CPA) —Govern-
ment legislation that may give
bank employees a_ five-day
week plus resistance by the
same government to demands
for over-all forty-hour week —

the forty-hour week was estab-
lished when Stanley Knowles ask-
ed Labor Minister Gregg for a
list of organizations requesting
the federal government to impose
a standard forty-hour work week
in industries where its jurisdic-
tion applies,
