OPEN LETTER From page 10 In the short time she has been working, my daughter has had to buy glasses. Was that covered by BCHIS? No! She has had dentist bills. Will BCHIS pay these? No! Even at this terrible cost, protection is not completely provided. Working class parents can hardly keep a home together as it is. Robbing their children as they come out of school is the last straw. So the situation stands like this. My daughter has a $15 bill (an unjust one) that she cannot possibly pay, my son will soon be getting a similar bill that he can- not pay, for he will not have a job until next fall. My husband and myself have a $21 premium to pay. All this is due by De- cember 31. The $21 we will pay, but not the children’s $30. It is not only an injustice but also my budget camnot stand it. My hus- band does not begin to make enough money for us to be able to throw any of it away. I am only a housewife, but there are many housewives in B.C. facing the same situation. They all resent these injustices very much, and. the time has come when something must be done. The idea of hospital insur- ance is a good one, but you must look closely, discover your mis- takes, and rectify them, Further- more, these changes must come SOON! The present system is nothing but highway robbery. If the goy- ernment of British Columbia does not make a radical change soon, the people of British Columbia will look for a new government.
