INSURANCE

These are vital social services for which
labor has fought for years, and won. None

of these were accomplished until the need :

for them had been demonstrated and
Proven by private groups. Labor is still
working to improve community life, to
strengthen family life. ~

The Community Chest and Council and
its 40 Red Feather Services, like Labor, are
pioneering in the field of social welfare. On
the staffs of the 40 Red Feather agencies
are highly-trained people who are develop-
ing new skills to aid in the strengthening of
family life and in the care of disturbed and
difficult children.

And, too, city life is changing our pat-
tern of living, and this change creatés new
problems for children and young people.

The work done by the Community
Chest and Council and its 40 agencies is not
charity. Direct social assistance has been
accepted by Government as its responsi-
bility. Community Chest and Council agen-
cies are pioneering in, and proving the need

for, those social services which the public
as a whole have not yet accepted as being
the responsibility of Government.

The work of pioneering for a better,
happier community will never end. Nor
will there ever be an end to the need for
social welfare services, SUPPORTED BY
VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ALL
SECTIONS OF THE COMMUNITY. The goal
of social welfare work is happiness — for
the individual, for the family, for THE
ENTIRE COMMUNITY. So...
