Employees under the agree- ment will no longer be required to return for the sixth shift to complete the work week. All work performed beyond the speci- fied five shifts will receive rate of one and one-half. The Hours of Work Clause as now contained in the agreement is quoted in full hereunder: Article XI1I—Hours of Work SECTION 1 _ (a) The regular hours of work in all the Forest Products opera- tions shall be eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week with rate and one-half for any hours worked over eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week, Production em- ployees shall be paid rate and one-half for Saturday and/or Sunday, regardless of the number of hours worked during the week. (b) If a statutory holiday oc- curs during the work week, the employees shall only be required to work on Saturday and/or Sun- day for the time lost due to the Statutory Holiday by mutual con- sent. SECTION 2 (a) It is agreed that time worked by Cookhouse and Bunk- house Employees shall be com- puted on a daily basis. (b) Cookhouse and Bunkhouse Employees shall be entitled to one day off in seven (7) to be taken weekly if practicable, otherwise at a time mutually agreeable; provided that all accumulated leave sha be given in full at least once every three (3) months, In the event of a Camp closing down, or where an Employee has accumulated leave and his serv- ice terminated through no fault of his own and he has worked the seven (7) days during the week, the Employee will be paid one- half a day’s pay for each day’s credit accumulated. SECTION 3 (a) Those Employees, who of necessity regularly work on Sat- urday and Sunday, shall take two (2) other days of the week off to be mutually agreed between the Employees and the Company. In ch event, Saturday and Sunday shall be considered working days and overtime rates shall not ap- ply until the regular daily or weekly work limit has been ex- ceeded, but shall apply on their rest days if worked, unless other- wise agreed between the Employ- ees and their Employer. (b) For the purpose of this Section, Employees shall include Engineers, Firemen, Operating Millwrights. SECTION 4 It is agreed that maintenance, repair and construction employ- ees can be employed on a Tues- day-to-Saturday work week’ for which they will be paid straight time for Saturday work. In such event, Sunday and Monday will be recognized as their rest days and any work performed on their rest days will be paid for at rate and one-half. It is further agreed that the rest day, Monday, may be changed by mutual consent be- tween the Employee and the Com- pany. In such event, work per- formed on Monday will be paid for at straight time. If the Em- ployee works on Monday at the request of the Company, the rate of pay will be rate and one-half. However, if the Employee re- quests a temporary change from his rest day on Monday, work performed on Monday will be paid for at straight time. SECTION 5 It is agreed between the Par- ties that if two (2) hours or less are necessary after midnight Fri- day to complete the shift which commenced work on Friday after- noon, time worked after midnight Friday to complete this shift will be paid at straight time. SECTION 6—THREE-SHIFT OPERATIONS (a) ‘The Employer shall have the right to operate his plant or any part thereof on a three-shift basis and all Employees working under this arrangement shall re- ceive eight hours pay upon com- pletion of the full hours estab- lished as their regular shift. De- tails of shifts shall be varied at the Employer’s option. (b) It is agreed that Section (a) above shall only apply to those Employees actually. work- ing on a three-shift basis, (c) The Employer shall have the right to determine the number of shifts operated in any unit or department of the operation. TAILS OF HOURS OF WORK CLAUSE d) Where less than three shifts are worked, Clause (a) above shall not apply. SECTION 7 The foregoing provisions of this Article shall not be construed as guaranteeing to any Employee any number of hours of work per day or per week. Artide XIV—Statutory Holidays SECTION 1 (a) All Employees who work on New Year’s Day, Dominion Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day will be paid rate and one- half for all hours so worked. (b) In the event one of the above Statutory-Holidays falls on Sunday, the following Monday will be observed as the Statutory Holiday. SECTION 2 At the option of the Company, but wherever possible by mutual agreement between the Employer and the Committee, either Good Friday or Easter Monday will be observed as the special holiday in accordance with this article. All Employees who work on the day to be observed shall be paid rate and one-half for all hours so worked, The Management shall notify the Employees ‘which day is designated at least one week prior to the said holiday. All 800 strikers were thrown into the pokey and the jail employees walked out after deciding that was too much work.
