Incorporation of two new co-operative farms during the past month brings the total number of co-op farms now op- erating in Saskatchewan to 19, Harold Chapman, director of ex- tension services for the provincial department of co-operation, has announced. One of the new farms, Willow- dale, is the seventh veterans’ co- operative farm to be organized on the Carrot River project: in northeastern Saskatchewan, while the other, formed. by a seven- member family group and inc porated as the Oka co-operati farm, is in the Zenon Park dis- trict, about 20 miles northeast of Tisdale. The 10 members of the Willow- dale co-op farm, who will lease 3,200 acres of crown land, have been working together on the Saskatchewan governme nt’s clearing and breaking project at Carrot River for the past year. There are now 177 veterans on the seven co-operative farms in the Carrot River project leasing 24,640 acres, of which about 8,- 000 acres are under cultivation. The Oka family group at Zenon Park has pooled assets of six quarter sections of land and a full line of machinery, and also rents three quarters, Most of the land, originally in heavy bush, has al- ready been brought under cultiva- tion, and the building site is be- ing developed on the original homestead about six miles north- west of Zenon Park.
