B. King Co. Ltd. to extend the 40-hour week was discussed at a meeting of employ- ees addressed by International President Fadling, who warned of the dangers of accepting the employer’s proposal. The 40-hour week, he stated, is one right won by the Union that must not be sacrificed. Resulting action taken by the Local Union and the plant com- mittee sustained the prevailing 40-hour week. A similar situation arose at the L. and K, Lumber Co., and supporting action by the employ- ees maintained the 40-hour week. ‘A vote of the employees held at Glaspie Lumber Co., emphatic- ally rejected the 44-hour week by 40 to 5. « Zone Strike Committees In accordance with instructions of the membership meeting, zone strike committees have now been established and are promoting the rapid organization of plant strike committees, Heavy Referendum Vote Referendum vote on the $1.00 assessment for 1950 and amend- LAKE C@WICHAN BUSINESS GUIDE ANDERSON’S MEN’S WEAR MADE TO MEASURE SUITS AND TOPCOATS — Branded Work Clothing — PHONE 161 LAKE COWICHAN, B.C.
