The plan is employer- maintained and extends to 400 employees. A number of New Westminster plants have been shut down on several shifts due to an alleged log shortage. Local Union offi-j cials point to the fact that log stocks are as high as in any pre- vious year, but the present short- | age is largely due to shipments to the United States to catch a booming American market. Timber Preservers Employees at Timber Preserv- ers are engaged in re-vamping their seniority plan, assisted by the plant committee and Local Union officials. B.C. Manufacturing Workers on the-night shift in the plant of B.C. Manufacturing Co. Ltd., are examining their right to overtime pay, because of working the early hours on Good Friday. The claim may present an interesting precedent for night shift work. - Capilano Timber Difficulties confront the em- ployees of Capilano Timber Co., regarding payments toward the M.S.A. plan, due to the evasive attitude taken bv the company. The original agreement pro- vided that the company would make a flat rate monthly contri- bution to the plan, but increasing costs now place an undue burden on the employees. They are sceking an adjust- ment under which the company will assume a pro rata share, but have not been able to arrange a conference for the purpose.
