Auxiliary Serves Eats To Keystone Pickets Our auxiliary as very roud to Set as hostess auxiliary for the District Council quarterly meet- ing. on November 10th. The 41 delegates present showed the growing strength and importance of our auxiliary movement. On Nopember 22nd we held d successful meeting and social at the home of Sister Munson, 304 Hart Street, Maillardville. Three new members were initiated. Sister Morgan gave an inter- esting talk at the conclusion of the meeting, pointing out the fact that each auxiliary has an im- portant place in the community regardless of its size. She stated, “In the U.S. it is notable that women in the low income bracket have the lowest voting ration. This shows the need for educa- tion in this group. Our meetings are a matter of both education and organiaztion. We should plan our meetings to be far reaching, and give each individual member 4 job, if possible, to stimulate interest in auxiliary work.’ An interesting discussion fol- lowed, and the refreshments ser- ved were thoroughly enjoyed. Brother Snickers, H. & L. Camp, has a broken finger. Brother Borman of Eburne, is very ill since hi: operation and is very week Brother Dalgleish has been sent home. Brother Gunther of Alert Bay, was operated on and was too sick to receive visitors. Brother Johnston of B.B.&B. Logging, Powell River, has a broken knee cartilage and was i: the hospital two months ago with the same trouble. Two former pa- tients ave been discharged. A man from Squamish was visited but we could not get his name. We also visited Sister Nancy Mamilton and took some flowers. Mother and baby: are both doing weil, * * We have had a few results from a notice that was in the paper a few weeks ago, asking the auxiliaries to notify us when any Brothers or Sisters are brought to the hospitals here, * but there are still some that we don’t find for some time after they have entered the hispital. One Brother was in for a month with a broken back and we never knew he was there. Smith was the scene of much activity. This was ithe first meeting of the wives of Local 1-418. It was the unanimous de- cision of the ladies to form an auxiliary. Therefore the Charter was applied for. Mrs. W. Smith was elected temporary Chairman and Mrs. Pete Smith was elect- ed |temporary |Secretary. [Plans were laid for a Christmas tree for the children of the IWA. Xmas Donations Asked For Windsor Children The Ladies Auxiliary Local 107 passed a motion at their last a donation of $15.00 to the Ford Strikers Christmas Cheer Fund at Windsor, Ontario. The Auxiliary members are going to look up all the toys that their children don’t need, and send them to Windsor also. We would like to see all Auxil- iaries do the same, if they have not already done so. Those chil- dren are going to do without a lot of Christmas cheer if we don’t get together and help them. They are putting up a good fight. Let us do all we can for them. Send all toys and donations to the “Christmas Cheer’ Fund,” Windsor, Ontario. Plans were made to make Christmas parcels to take to the Brothers who, unfortunately, have to remain in the hospitals over the festive |scason.
