aver in the north, the western
poundary is set at Anahjm Lake
and goes as far east as Wells

hopes to realize approximately
$400 as a result of the Pre-Skating
Jamboree that was held last Fri-
day night. The crowd that turned
out was not as large as expected
but considering that bad weather
and the special show at the Alston
offered some competition, the

tion inspector are provided for
by the health unit and Jim
Shannon has his office in the
Kiwanis Health biulding. In
Prince George there are two
other inspectors who work out
of the unit there and cover the

Chilcotin is completed, the major part of the work
on road approaches will be done.

But although they knew the
work on the briége proper would
start as soon as the tender could
be let, they could make no state-
ment on when the road work
would be started or completed.

On the bridge itself; Mr. Gag-
lardi said some work might be
done this year, depending on the
weather.

GLENDALE WORK

On the possibility of the de-
partment paving the old Soda
Creek road out to Glendale, Mr.
Gaglardi was not prepared to say
anything until he hed studied the
department's responsibility in the
matter.

‘A suggestion that consideration
be given to widening the pave-
ment on Oliver Street to the-sides
of the road along that, section
from Third Avenue out to the
highway proper, had merit, the
minister felt. He agreéd that en-
trance routes to any town were
important.

The minister instructed dis-
trict engineer Herb Coupe to col-
lect data on the work mentioned
and any other town projects that
were being discussed locally, for
his study.

Due to the extremely wet sum-
mer, fire season in the province}
was terminated at midnight last
night by special order-in-council.

With the lifting of the restric-
tions it is now not necessary to
obtain a permit from the Forestry
Department to burn trash. Local
Ranger Jack Cawston says it is
advisable for those contemplating
burning bush piles to take ad-
vantage of the lifting of restric-
tions to get the work done before
winter.

GIRL DIES OF INJURIES
WHEN STRUCK BY CAR

Lorraine K. Roper, 19, of Enterprise, died of
injuries suffered when she was struck by a south-
pound car near 135 Mile about 10:30 Saturday

night.

Miss Roper was walking along
the highway when she was struck
by the car driven by Elmer
Bugune Gordon of Lac La Hache.
Fact that it was a dark night and
heavy rain made visibility poor
probably contributed to the ac-
cident. No charges have been
laid against the driver of the
car involved.

Roy Fisher, who was driving be-
hind Gordon, phoned police from
Enterprise Lumber Company and
a patrol car was on the scene al-
most immediately. The girl was

Cadets will move
into Williams Lake

The 610 Cariboo Squadron of
the Royal Air Cadets is planning
to move from St. Joseph’s Mission
into Williams Lake. Plans are
being made now for accommoda-
tion of the squadron in town.

This move will be of great
advantage to the unit as more
local boys will be able to join
and not have ‘to worry about
transportation.

The number of local boys in the
squadron has increased greatly in
this year and it is thought that
many more would be interested
if the unit were in town.

In September 1958, there were
only 13 cadets turning out for the
first few parades. This year
there were nearly 40 cadets on
the first parade night.

Another major change has been
made in that the Air Cadet Train-
ing program has been renovated
and a whole new syllabus of mod-
erm and advanced courses have
been incorporated. Among the
few items are courses on radio
electronics, physical fitness, jet
engines and meteorology.

To make arrangements to move

tee will be held tomorrow night

drinking in a public place for

second conviction was for being

and the fine was $25. This man
and some others were found

Soda Creek last weekend while a

It was necessary for Mrs. Gar-
neau to be carried up the bank
to Seymour Street to the waiting
ambulance.

Mr. Garneau was worried about
what would happen to their dog,
which was in the car at the time
of the accident, while they were
in the hospital. No dog was seen
at the accident by the onlookers.

Annual meeting of the High
School P-TA held Monday proved
something of a fiasco with an at-
tendance of 13, of which only
five were paid up members. Ac-
cordingly it was impossible to
conduct any business with less
than a quorum in voting strength.
The meeting will be held again in
two weeks time.

After a year of poorly attended
meetings, there was great con-
jecture as to whether the High
School P-TA should try to con-
tinue. The few people present
spent the evening discussing the
problem.

Of those parents six were new-
comers to the High School P-TA.
They wondered if the programs
had been interesting enough to
attract parents and teachers.
President Fred Waterhouse ex-
plained the nature of the pro-
grams and the various devices
which had been used to attract
members and he said that aud-
iences had been far too small
and the amount of good done
