BOTTLES, BOTTLES EVERYWHERE I can think of many reasons why our stay in Williams Lake will hold a special spot in our hearts, but first and foremost I shall remember that it was here my son became a business man. My husband's. work had necessitated us taking up temp- orary residence in this: stamp- ede town and we had been est- ablished here for about two weeks before our eight-year-old son; Billy; made-his discovery. = Mom! Then one day Bobby, our landlady’s son came along and said, “Mrs. Mercer, it sure looks like I’ve got competition.” I asked Bobby if he minded Billy horning in and he tossed his head and said, “Heck,no. Of course, I sure would never go through the garbage cans looking for my bottles.” I agreed with him emphatically and then shrieked “You mean Billy does?” “Well, only —_ sometimes,” Bobby assured me. “But he sure makes @ mess of the gar- bage.” This necessitated a hasty visit to my landlady to assure her that Billy would find his treasures elsewhere than in her trash cans. I explained to my hus: band that they knock off a nickel if\you don’t have a case, although I agreed that we cert- ainly weren't going to stop and pick this one up. Billy per- sisted, “But, Dad, it might be full of bottles! I said, “Why don’t you stop? We aren’t in a hurry. He'll have fun just Billy hopped out, excitement oozing from him .
