LAST OPERATION The last operational mari- time Lancaster aircraft, one of many that had iought its way through enemy fighters, aircraft fire and bad weather | during the Second World War had quietly retired from its last submarine hunting operation. The Lancaster will no longer be on active service with the) RCAF. It will be relegated to Photo reconnaisance and search | and rescue work. Flown mostly by Canadian crews, the planes completed more than 156,000 sorties and dumped More than 608,000 tons of bombs.
