Montreal, REFRESHES Pte, T. Hamilton, Grand Falls, COMING TO THE ALSTON Picture tells life of Diana Barrymore “Too Much Too Soon,” May 11 and 12 This is an excellent motion picture based on Diana Barry- more’s widely circulated auto- biography. On the whole, it is rather sordid, as Miss Barry- more reveals how through drinking and carousing she slowly but surely drifts into a life of degradation and despair. She finally finds herself in a charity hospital for alcoholics. Dorothy Malone and Errol Flynn put in thoroughly superb performances. Flynn portrays the late John Barrymore while Miss Malone depicts the writer, Diana Barrymore. The support- ing cast of Efrem Zimbalist, jr., Ray Denton, Neva Patterson and Murray Hamilton is of top quality. “ Satellite in the Sky,” May 13 and 14 Former hospital accountant at Quesnel faces charges QUESNEL—Muriel Wilcox, former accountant at Baker Memorial Hospital, was committed to stand trial on a charge of unlawfully and fraudulently converting to her own use the sum of $1,786.57, the property of the Quesnel Hospital Society. Griffith, chairman of the board of directors of the Quesnel Hospital Society; Doug Commons to study Indian question OTTAWA — The Commons moved last week towards a joint parliamentary committee study of the Indian Act and Indian administration after two attempts to alter the proposed committee powers were ruled out of order. On the motion of Citizenship Minister Fairclough, a committee was empowered to study the In- dian Act and suggest changes after investigating “Indian ad- ministration in general and, in Particular, the social and econ- omic status of the Indians.” The Senate was invited to name members to the body, which will have 24 Commons members. Frank Howard (CCF, Skeena) sought to add to the terms of reference several specific lines of study including Indians’ liability of taxes and right to vote in federal elections. Johnston, auditor; Corporal Iad Fisher, RCMP; W. C. Speare, hospital administrator; and R. W. Robertson, chairman of: the finance committee for the board. The offence was alleged to have occurred between January 1, 1958, and February 25, 1959.
