SHOWTIME — ALSTON THE ATRE 2 SHOWS —7&9P.M. two mills Last Wednesday the mill of —— Dan Basaraba Sawmill Ltd. went up in flames about 10:30 p.m. The following morning at 6 lo’clock the Likely sawmill of Lignum Ltd. was ablaze. Cause of the fires has not been deter- mined. The Basaraba mill, 16 miles from Williams Lake, had been checked by the sawyer at 9 o'clock and again at 9:30 and everything was found in crder. About 10:30 the glow of the fire was noticed from the camp about a mile away by Twyla Basaraba, daughter of the o er. By the time the crews reach- ed the mill site the entire struc- ture was ablaze. Estimated value of the mill was $85,000, partially covered by insurance. Also lost in the Basaraba fire was about 30,000 feet of lumber. Forklifts removed logs decked near the mill to prevent further spread of fire. The fire itself is believed to have started in the engine room. At Likely, where the Lignum mill went up about 6 a.m. Thursday, officials are at a loss for the reason of the fire.
