He lasted two years but his hopes of making the grade be- gan to wane as he contacted various chartered accountant’s officies in Vancouver without any encouragement wherever he went. They said be would not be able to move around suffi- ciently and cope with inter- office visits and calls on busi- nesses which the profession demanded. Seeing hopes of his aspirations dwindling, plus in- creasing difficulties with the massed Vancouver traffic, which made wheelchair transportation something of a hazard, began to play on Al's nerves. STORY BRINGS RESULTS It was at this stage that Jean Howarth eard of Al, inter- viewed him at once, and wrote a story about him last October, under the title ‘Good Man Needs A Job.” Gordon Cole read the story and, along with five other good samaritans in British Columbia, offered Al a job. All the other positions were at the coast, and this was the main factor which decided AI to come to the In- terior along with reports which he heard about Gordon in Van- couver. “ Gordon’s a great guy and I certainly haven’t regretted the move one bit,” Al states. He can do everything for him- self except walk, but what he enjoys most of all is to propel his wheelchair alongside _ his 2 trim little sports ear and climb} aboard, which he does unaided.
