Moved In

A convoy of heavy machinery
consisting of a big log loader
weighting 40 tons, two D6 cats
om low beds, and a Mack truck
and trailer, is expected in to
Trethewey-Wills logging camp
this week. :

The outfit is travelling from
the coast via the Hope-Princeton
Highway, and into the camp by
way of Gang Ranch.

CECIL HENRY added another
cougar to his kill this week on
a return trip to Churn Creek.
Unfortunately, he was forced to
make as short a stay as possible
as a large portion of the hay he
had stored at Lawson's’ Cabin
Was gone, as well as the wood
he had piled inside.

THE PROCHSS of disposing
of their cattle brought a number
of interesting guests to Bonner’s
house recently, including Dan,
Sheila and Norman Lee, and
John Sterling, of Hanceville,

Fitzpatrick, of Alexis Creek, Mr.
and Mrs. Hugh Cornwall and
Slim Dorin, of -Williams Lake,
and Tony Ballas, of Kamloops.
Three trucks transported the
stock to Williams Lake Wednes-
day, where the cows were con-
signed through C.C.A. to> Tony
Ballas, and the young stuff to
Henry Koster.

THE SELMAN FAMILY enter-
tained the school children with
games, prizes and refreshments
at noon on January 31, the
ceasion of Carol Selman’s
birthday.

MR. AND MRS. Duane Witte
and family were visitors to town
this week.

JOHN SIEBERT and Angus
Grewar made a wip to Home
Ranch this week to exchange
strays with the Gang Ranch cow-
boys. In their absence, Charlie
Bambrick is looking after things
at  Breckness Ranch, while
Johnny Chureh, accompanied by
his wife, is doing chores at
Chureh’s. Bert Wassel, in turn,
is feeding dogies at Sky Ranch.

Bingo Raises $37
For Community

There was quite a crowd at the
bingo game held January 25.
Refreshments were served later
in the evening and everyone had
an enjoyable time. The sum of
$29 was made for the commun-
ity fund.

PAT AND GENE JOHNSON
and Felicity Rafferty attended
the hockey game in Williams
Lake Wednesday.

CHILDREN and adults are
still enjoying skating at the rink
on Sunday afternoons.

working in the store at Chilco

‘T. Rafferty and Len Todd.

TEN PEOPLE were present
at the Centennial meeting held
on February 7. Mrs. Joan Scott
is to try to engage an orchestra
for the Centennial dance, to be
held August 29. Mr. Terry is
going a good job of collecting
history on the old timers. It
qwas decided to have square
dancing after the community
meeting on February 15. Quite
a few names have heen sold to
put on the Centennial quilt
that is being made. There will
be a special Centennial meeting
on Sunday, February 16, after
ithe skating.

To Australian Range

A spindly grass from South
America h me a source of
grief to ranchers.
The serrated tussock grass is
growing alomst unchecked over
nearly 2,000,000 acres in New
South Wales and on 500,000
‘acres of New Zealand range.

Experts say it would cost
$20,000,000 to wipe out the)
grass in New South Wales alone,
since the grass could be des-/
troyed only with a spray which
would kill all surrounding vege-
tation, |
