We quaffed cocktails in the dimly- lit surroundings of the newly- opened Toreador Room of the Plaza Hotel. In the morning we breakfasted in the smart little OverLander Cafe. Here again murals of the historic party ot 1862 who hacked their way through the forest and over mountains to -Rort~ Kamloops hung upon the walls, the stools and benches were upholstered in simulated steer-hide, ancient rifles and guns marked the walls, the sugar lumps were piled in tiny Red River carts, and the light fixture was a huge wagon-wheel. Most interesting feature was the chef who pre- pared the meals behind the counter in full-view of the diners. We ate lunch jn pleasant sur- roundings at the Leland Hotel where one whole wall is made of glass brick, and we marked the use of wonderful air-condi- tioning units that apparently are being used to quite an extent in Kamloops. and Peter and Archie Ogden, the groom’s brothers.
