We Escape Duty

I couldn't have been more excit

a two-day jaunt to Kamloops.
It must have heen the pros-
pect of a holiday without the
children that elated me so. Much
as I Tove them, they are not the
most desirable ingredients for a
happy holiday in a strage city
and when good friend Pat Lloyd
offered to take them off my
hands, my delight knew no
bounds (I made a few protesting
noises at first, of course).
Except for a couple of trips
to the hospital, it was the first
time I had ever left Elaine, and

with the dusty, dirty Williams

growing pains.

The orderly streets and tidy
gardens bordered with large

the Thompson River bisecting it
gave an illusion of coolness that
was dispelled as soon as the sun
