A fifty-hour period of pre- liminary training, followed by a screening of candidates will de- cide who will be eligible for ad- mittance to the thirty-five-hour Advanced Pipe-welding Course to be given in the Dominion- Provincial Vocational School at Nanaimo. At the preliminary training courses priority of candidates will be given to experienced welders from small pipelines, or, Pipeline welders who are -not fully competent in all aspects of pipeline work The balance of the ¢ ses will be filled by per- sons competent and experienced in general welding; persons with experience on large lines in such capacities as welders’ helpers, ete. If there are still vacancies in the classes, enrolment will be open to all other interested per- sons. The preliminary training courses will be conducted in Vancouver and Victoria. The Vancouver preliminary coufse will commence January 9th, 1956, at the Vancouver Vo- cational Institute. Here evening classes of four hourg per night will be offered for two nights per week. The time required tor completing the preliminary course will depend on the abil- ity of the trainee to meet the instructor’s standards; but in no case will it exceed fifty hours. Each trainee will pay a fee ranging from $5.00 to $50 de- pending on length of time in the course. Candidates for training in either Victoria and Vancouver must register with the National Employment Service. Vancouver, applications for registration will be made to Vancouver Vocational Institute; and in Victoria, to the Director of Night Schools, Greater Vic- for Final Advanced Training at the Dominion-Pro- vincial Vocational School at Nanaimo. The Advances Pipe-line Train- ing School will commence Feb- ruary 20th, at the Dominion- Provincial Vocational School in Nanaimo. The course will con- sist of day-time training of sey- en hours per day, five days per week with a maximum of thirty- five hours. Graduation will de- pend upon the ability of the trainee to reach speed and qual- ily tests to standards required structor by Inspector from the Inspection Company, There will be no training fees, and the school will provide lodg- ing and meals to all men who desire same at the rate of $2.00 per day. Trainees will pay their own transportation to. Nanaimo. It is to be noted that only on the recommendation of the in- structors in the Preliminary Training Course will candidates be accepted for screening for the Advanced Pipe-li ‘Training Course at Nanaimo.
