Mixed trends lefc eastern hog markets steady to 50c¢ lower and western outlets steady to 90c higher. Lambs closed steady to $1 lower. Deliveries of slaughter cattle to the eleven” public stockyards this week were 1,500 below last week and 2,000 less than in the same week last year. A decline of 700 head at eastern markets was offset by a similar increase at western termin- als. Cattle marketings at stockyards and on direct shipment to packing plants up to date this year are -one percent more than in the same peri- od a year ago. OBITUARY ROGERT CROWE Robert (Bob) Crowe of Quesnel passed away at War Memorial Hos pital on September 5, 1955 after a lengthy illness. He was employed at Johnson Sawmill for the past year. JOUN KEMP HAYNES John Kemp Haynes, 69, well- known resident of Tatlayoko Lake, died in War Memorial Hospital Aug- ust 27 following a lengthy illness. He leaves to mourn his pass’ his wife, Dell, and four sons, Harry, Tatlayoko Lake; Louis, Kamloops; Lawrence, Kitwanga, B.C., and Ken- neth, Tatlayoko Lake. Eleven grand- children also survive. Father of Local Man Dies at Vancouver A pioneer resident of the Okan- agan, John Brent, father of Thomas Brent of Williams Lake passed away August 20 in Shaughnessy Military Hospital at the age of 79. Mr. Brent was born at a spot now known as Five Bridges, between Okanagan Mission and Kelowna. His father, Frederick, was an immigrant trom Germany who followed the first mission fathers into the Okanagan, bringing with him the first flour mill | to operate-in the valley. John Brent served in the Boer War with the Stratheona Horse Regiment and en- listed again in-1915 and served in Franch -with the Strathcona Horse ; Regiment. |" Besides his son, Mr. Brent is sur- vived by a daughter, Mrs. Anna | Meeres of Dawson City. His wife predeceased him 10 years ago.
