Cristopher Lynch was born Rath- keale, County Limerick, and has fol- lowed his career from an early age. At 21 he was a recognized concert star. On hearing the young man, John McCormack decided to help him out and sent Lynch to Dublin to study with his own teacher. The famous Irish tenor continued to take a lively interest in the budding car- eer of Christopher Lynch right up to the time of his death in 1945. He left his protege, among other items. his favorite evening wardrobe, in- cluding a collection of monagram- ed waistcoats. Lynch and McCor- mack in his prime were about the same size, physically, and sometimes Christopher Lynch, with typicial Irish sentimentality wears one of the fine waistcoats for his own concerts, “just for luck.” Bad road conditions kept many country people away from the con- cert, but about 225 were on hand to enjoy the show.
