The Road West

Now that some of us have actuall

Whatever the opinions are on the condition of the road
itself, everyone that sees it is immediately conscious of the

few private citizens with the imagination and determination

down the mountainside from the present roadbed you wonder
how men could have walked along to mark the route when it
appears that goats would have difficulty. And following these

Just when we really began to
think the Cariboo Cattlemen's As-
sociation had abandoned the idea of
instaliing winter feed yards near
town we learned they are now trying
to acquire a suitable site with every
intention of making a start this year.
That is right cheerful news and we
have little doubt they will receive
adequate support from the member-
ship.

~ History An Asset

We hope the intereSt shown by the public in the display
of historic articles recently exhibited in town will spur the
local society on to taking up their museum project once more.
Although the display was not centrally located, hundreds of
visitors to the Stampede paused to examine the collection.
There is nothing unusual in this type of curiosity, but it points
up the fact that a permanent collection of objects of Cariboo
history. would-prove a tourist attraction of{incalculable value.

Last year the museum project was followed with en
thusiasm by the society officials and then was dropped short |
of the actual work being undertaken. Principal cause of
the falling-off in interest was laid to the fact that the officials
claimed outside support was lacking. We hope the society will

take up their selling job once more.

Would Look Good To Horsefly

We have been wondering how the people of Horsefly took
the news of Mr. Gaglardi’s announcement in Bella Coola last
week that he would ‘try’ and set aside $50,000 annually for

work on the new coast outlet.

With the amount of taxable material coming out of the
Tiorsefiy country, the board of trade members of that centre
might well ponder the mysterious ways of government policy.

Greed, Not Glands
