HORSEFLY NEWS Bad Weather Spoils Attendance At Women’s Institute Convention The Women’s Institute of Horse- fly held the annual convention for the Women's Institutes of British Columbia on June 28. Due to ad- verse weather conditions very few members were able to attend. In the absence of the proper officials and the district board members, Mrs. Froleck of Beresford Women’s In- stitute, who is the Citizenship Con- delegate, Mrs. Hazel Hockley, gave the welcoming address. The various Institutes gave reports on their year’s activities, sharing ideas and information with each other. A locai display of handicrafts and‘art by the Horsefly Art Group, was admired by all. Lunch and supper were provided in the banquet room of the new hall. Mrs. Alice Stober, president of the Horsefly Women’t Institute and Harry Brown, chairman of the loca) Board of Trade gave a welcoming address to the visitors. A MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER was held at the home of Mrs. Gilbert Walters in honor of Miss Donna Cole. Hostesses were Mrs. Leonard Wal- ters, Mrs. Gilbert Walters and Mrs. Glen Walters. CECIL FORD, Lebanon, Oregon, are guests of their LONE BUTTE NEWS LONE BUTTE BOYS TAKE BALL TOURNEY On Saturday afternoon a boys’ team from Lone Butte won the soft- ball tournament at 100 Mile House. There four teams competing, 109 Mile House. Lac La Hache, Forest Grove and Lone Butte. Lac La Hache lost to Forest Grove in the opener and then Lone Butte defeated 100 Mle House 5-3. In the finals Lone Butt defeated Forest Grove 5-2. All teams played’ a good brand of pall. The past week gave us lots of rain up until Friday when the weather started clearing. Friday, Saturday and Sunday no rain. THURSDAY DVENING Mr. and Mrs. Orville Gibson left for Winda- sor, Ont., to pick up a new car. Orvil is on his holidays from the Dept. ot Highways.
