Williams Lake Motors Ltd. ‘BIG CREEK CHILCOTIN GUIDES ELECT OFFICERS; HOLD FIRST ANNUAL TRAP SHOOT The Chilcotin Guides re-elected Cecil Henry of Big Creek as presi- dent of their association again this year at the annual meeting held at Alexis Creek June 10. Alfred Bryant of Anahim Lake, was chosen again as vice-president; R. Church and Duane Witte of Big Creek and Willy Johnson, Riske Creek, were put in as directors. Members present voted 9 to 4 in favor of discontinuing bounty on wolves. Al West, head of the Predator Control branch of the Game Dept. was in attendance, as well as M. Mor- tenson, Williams Lake, Warden K. Walmsley, and Mr. Stringer, Fish- eries Biologist from Prince George. Following the meeting, a trap- shoot provided entertaiment until dusk. Main event here was the Guides Team Shoot, a competition between Alexis Creek, Big Greek and the wes- tern Chilcotin Zone. The latter came out with the highest score, winning a beautiful trophy donated by Sam Barrowman of Alexis Creek and pre- sented at midnight by Association President C. Henry. This is to be an annual event, and the team winning this hadnsome trophy three times will be entitled to keep it. Men shooting on the winning team were: Alfred Bryant, Anahim Lake, Bruce Kellogg, Kleena Kleene; Dave Wilson, Tatla Lake. and Lee and Leonard Butler, Kleena Kleene. Alexis Creek Team: Tom Gardner, Bill and Jack Bliss, Alf Yoxall, and Mr. Whitecross. Big Creek team: Dick and John Church, Bruce Watt, and Jim Bonner. Lee Butler was winner of the $5 donated by Pigeon’s store, in a “Miss and Out” contest. A well attended dance, proceeds of which went to the Cubs and Scouts, was held in the evening.
