The Weather Although threatened rain held off im most areas, the weather was any- thing but summerlike over the holi- day weekend. Last Saturday several districts reported snow. Sunday re- mained cold and cloudy. Monday morning was cold with the weather warming up in the afternoon. To this was added $4.136.16, made up of membership fees, stock yard oper- ating and other items, including -2,518.75 recovery of bad debts writ- ten off, to bring the total profit figure to $7,056.51. Canim Lake Lodge Lost In Sunday Fire Loss of approximately $50,000 was sustained in a fire Sunday that totally destroyed the well-known lodge of Everett Greenlees on Canim Lake. 5 No details are available on how the fire started. The log lodge was one of’ the beauty spots on Cantin Lake. Loss is partially insured. Broken Hydrant. Shuts Off Villege eo ce ser Water System — the holiday weekend were wishing they had made other plans when they were forced to go without the use of water from the town system for 17 hours. At 9 pm. Sunday a wrecker sheared off a hyrant on the main trunk line entering town, just in in front of Pat’s Home Service. While repairs to the hydrant were bein: effected the entire village system was shut ‘off and water didn’t move through the mains until 2 p.m. tha following afternoon. In the meantime townspeople brought water from the creak, head- ed for wells and springs around town tor drinking water. One of the hard- est hit institutions was the ho§pital but here a umber of citizens came to the rescue by bringing water in cars and trucks from wells outside of town. ++. BESY CADET Lieut.-Col.
