Page 9 Formed In 1921, Royalite : Pioneered Turner Valley Development Royalite is one of the leading independent oil producing' and exploration companies in Canada. It has been engaged principally in the production, purchase and sale of crude oil, absorption gasoline, natural gas and in the exploration and development of prospective oil and gas lands. Royalite Oil Company, Limited was incorporated in 1921 and pioneered the development of the Turner Val- ley field in southern Alberta. With discovery of the Leduc and Redwater fields in’ 1947-48 the company e¥= panded the scope of its operations =by-undertaking an agressive program = of development, exploration and ac- “quisition of additional acreage. Its ~ operations now extend into -a wide- spread number of localities in Al- berta, British Columbia. Saskatche- wan and Manitoba. | In the Turner Valley field the com- = pany owns.or has’ am interest in 77 © crude oil wélls’and 62 gas wells. - In April, 1949 Royalite entered the Redwatér field and in six months i established a record of 20-straight producers. At the present time the company has interests in 47 produc- oil wellé in that field. In Turner Valley the company has two wholly-owned subsidiaries, name- ly; Valley Pipe Line Company Lim- ited “and Madison Natural Gas Com- pany Limited. The former owns and operates one 6” and two 4” oil pipe lines each 31 miles long from Turner Valley to Calgary to supply two local refineries. The latter has 72 miles of gas gathering lines in the field and operates a gas scrubbing plant with a designed capacity of 100,000,000 cubic feet daily. In July, 1952, Royalite placed in operation in Turner Valley’ a sulphur recovery plant with a capacity of 34 Jong tons per day. his plant re- ‘overs raw sulphur from the hydro- gen sulphide stripped from the na- tural gas in the scrubbing plant. PURCHASH PROPANE BUSINE: During the same year the physical assets of Western Propane Limited were purchased and has now hecome part of.the company’s plant s in Turner Valley. In 1963 th produced and sold in excess of 5,100,000 gallons of liquified pro pane. In addition a gasoline absorbtion plant is operated by Royalite with-a rated capacity of 36.5 billion eubie feet annually. In 1 a total of 16,000,000 gallons of natural gaso- line were extracted from 20 billion cubie feet of gas handled througr this plant. At Coleville, Sasatchewan the com- pany operates under its wholly- owned subsidiary, Royalite Products Ltd., a 5.000 barrel per day refinery to process crude oil from the Cole- ville field. On August 9th last year, Royalite ‘acquired complete ownership of the Prince Albert Refineries Limited at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Botn the Prince Albert renfiery and the Coleville refinery manufactures and markets burner fuels, tractor distil- late, gasoline and asphalt. During August, 1954, Royalite ac- quired the properties, Saskatoon re- finery. and marketing facilities Hi-Way Refineries Limited, well known Saskatchewan oil company, in a move designed to solidity the company’s position in the refining and marketing branches of the West- ern Canadian oil industry.
