Alvin Johnston, president of the Cariboo Society, revealed early this week that the idea has been greeted with enthusiasm in Ashcroft and also in Lillooet. TWO ARRESTED AT QUESNEL FOLLOWING BEATING OF ’LAKE MAN - Quesnel— Two men face charges of robbery with violence following the brutal beating of Enear Hal Noble, 50, of Williams Lake, in one of the concession booths at the local ball park on the evening of January 27. Appearing for preliminary hearing in police court here are Stanley Na- thaniel Fairchild, 24, and Delmar Charles Kellogg, 25. The two accused were arrested about an hour after Noble staggered into the RCMP office on the verge of collapse and told of being beaten and robbed of $120 by two men who had induced him to accompany them to the ball park on the pretense of vis- iting one of their homes. Noble, who suffered a badly bro- ken jaw, was treated in Quesnel hos- pital and later transferred to Prince George hospital for further medical attention. The injured man told of meeting two men and going with them to the ball park where the three stopped in one of the open-concession booths. Semi-conscious he. attempted to struggle to his feet after the robbery and was dealt another brutal blow on the side of the face which appar- ently shattered his jaw on both sides. The attack occurred about 6 p.m. and it was approximately half an hour later that Noble, his face a bat- tered, bloody pulp, staggered into the RCMP office. Officers immediately commenced au investigation of the beating, and Fairchild and Kellogg were in cus- tody half an hour after the report had been turned in. They are being held in Prince George jail pending the preliminary hearing. = Teachers Want Central School Library Thirty teachers of District 27 at- tended the Williams Lake District Association, B.C.T.F., held here Saturday. One of the results of the sessions was a resolution calling for the in- vestigation of the possibility of havy- ing a central library for th® schools of the district established here.
