The idea was brought back from a Continental holiday by Tom Smith, a confection- er and maker of wedding cake orna- ments. -Tom saw a French confec- toner make his candies more attrac- tive by wrapping them in tissue paper. That Christmas, he wrapped his sugared almonds in this way. The program, staged by the ten children under direction of their teacher, Ileen Waddington, was gay and entertaining with all of the pupils taking an active part. Larry Henry was master of ceremonies. | Santa arrived at the close of the program with presents for all the , boys and girls. MISS WADDINGTON left Friday for her home at Meadow Lake, Sask., and does not expect to return. Miss Waddington asked for a release at Christmas if another teacher could be found.
