Several times I had to wait a mat- ter of minutes before the operator responded, several times I got the wrong number. On one occasion when I was at- tempting to raise the operator on a private line, I was somewhat taken back to have a woman scream “Would you get off the Tine WE’re using it!" ’ On my second at- |. tempt on the same call, after jigglng the hook the several minutes, the op-| erator finally answered indignantly and abruptly asked ‘Please give me THAT'S what I was trying to do. Almost every Vancouver-number T called had been changed, although this was probably due to the instal- lation of more dial phones. But the ay-off in confusion came over one of these calls. The first time I called this Dexter number, I was informed it had been changed to Dexter $187-L. Not mak- ing a note of the change and not wish- ing to bother the operator again, 1 asked for informotion on the second call. Carefully I gave the name and address of my party (which was listed in the phone book under the old number). Information left the liue; returned minutes later to in- C.A.R.S. This drive, which was scheduled to begin last week, will be held early in the New Year as it was decided there were too many other worthy functions either already in progress or planned. The group will still carry on their ppogram of education and will en- deayour to contact all town and dis- trict victims of these painful and crippling diseases in an effort to an- alyze the need for a resident physio- therapist.
