Page & t DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE REPORTS ON CATTLE SHIPMENTS, DISEASE CONTROL Shipments of cattle in 1953 trom British Columbia were 63,419 head, an increase of 8.045 over 1952, ac- cording to the annual report of the Department of Agriculture. Of this figure the Cariboo district contributed 16,784 head, down 2,511 from the 1952 figure and 3,821 less than was shipped in 1951. Of the 1953 total for Carihoo, Wil- liams Lake handled 10,120 Alexis Creek, Quesnel, Soda Cre Lac La Hache, Clinton, 100 Mile House and Graham Siding accounted for 5.874, and Lillooet, Pavilion, Bridge Lake, Lone Butte for 790, The annual report also carries an account on warble-fily control in the Cariboo, written by District Agricul turist Joe Walsh. Reports Mr. Walsh: “The warble-fly control program was carried out through this office with a total of 16,000 head of cattle being treated. Generally throughout the Cariboo the incidence of warble-fiy is getting steadily less each year, and reports from buyers indicate the damage to carcasses is now relatively light.
