Letter to the Editor|

Williams Lake, B.C
August 16

The Editor,

Williams Lake Tribune,

Dear Sir:

Your editorial in last week's paper
was interesting even if it did not
contain the facts as they really are.

Firstly, I would like to say that 1
agree with you one hundred percent
when you say that the village streets
are a disgrace. But I would also like
to point out that it is impossible to
maintain them without equipment.
You stated in last week’s paper that
we had never asked the PWD for a
grader. I had asked the previous
Engineer if it would be possible to
obtain a muchine from them and he
told me that as long as there was a
privately owned machine in the dis-
trict they would not let their ma-
chines out, and for that reason I did
not ask them in the last two months,
further to that two days ago I spoke
to Mr. Grigg and also the road fore-
man Mr. Gruhs and inquired if they
had had any of their machines avail-
able this summer for other than
their own work and they stated that
the only time that their graders were
in town was because they were in
need of repair.

I just want the people to have the
true facts Mr. Editor and that is why
I have replied to your editorial.

I would also like to say that we
have a grader rented since Saturday,
August 14th and if we do not get too
much rain the streets will be put in
shape shortly, this includes the new
sub,

Yours truly,
Herb. Gardner.
