radar warning system, stretching
acrossithe mid-section of the country
to detect the approach of enemy
planes.

The scheme was confirmei this
week by defence officials in Gttawa.
They were commenting on « state-
ment in Washington, by the former
assistant U.S. defence se2retary,

John A. Hanna, which revealed Gan-
-ada’s intention of building a third
radar defence line,

Ottawa officials say that the new
radar chain will be South of the
early-warning chain known as the
