YOUR BUILDING SUPPLY DEALER ORE GOING NORTH _— * THERESE’S Loss Of Tourists BEAUTY SALON WILL BE Worries Kamloops CLOSED Resort owners of the Kamloops JULY 15th district are concerned about tourists To AUGUST 15th slipping away to the Cariboo and Central B.C. points instead of swing- ing east at Cache Creek to visit Kamloops as they once did. This northward movement of tour- ists was one of the feature topics at a meeting a week ago of the re- cently formed Kamloops Fishing Re- sort Operators Association. It was felt more highway signs at Cache Creek might be one solution to the problem. The fact was mention- ed that directional signs must be 1000 feet from an intersection and that the road leading to Kamloops from Cache Creek did not look like a highway. W. S. Barton, chairman of the Kamloops group, also pointed out that the opening of alternative tour- ist areas in the north was also work- ing to the detriment of the Kamloops area. \ The fact that Kamloops resort owners are worried is one that, might well be noted in the Caribou for it is indication that competition for the elusive torist may soon be getting tougher.
