Thuraday, December 24, 1953 THE TRIBUNE, WILLIAMS LAKE, B.6. ae Page ii I is our pleasure once again to say Merry Christmas to all our friends and neighbors. Williams Lake Pharmacy More About Messages Ceontinued from page 9 own sins. 3 God has done it through the Lord Jesus Christ. John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the only begotten ’Son of God.” When we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ then the Scripture declares we are in Christ and Christ is in us. 11 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if any man he in st, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold all things become new.” It is so simple, so easy; there is nothing else we can do but accept Him as our Saviour, nothing to pay, it is without money and without price. Forsake your sinful ways this day and let the Christ of Christmas rule and reign in your heart and life. He will bring peace and joy and satis- faction if you will let Him be your King. Rey. C. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All. HEALTH UNIT REPORTS CHICKEN POX | IS PREVALENT IN Measles has come and is going, infectious jaundice is still with us and now another virus infection. chiecken-p The “chicken” en-pox is a mystery to us as the barnyard fowl is not susceptible to the complaint and indeed it is extremely difficult to n- fect any other animal but man with this disease. is, as a rule, trans- mitted from one individual to an- other by direct contact or by droplet infection and thus we find that epi- demics usually occur in the winter months when people tend tu be in closer contact with each other: and ventilation is poor. The incubation period is from 14 to 21 days. The rash is frequently the first sign of the disease but there may be a period of mal and slight temperature, particularly in adults, lasting for 24 hours before the rash appear The rash consists at’ first of small pink spots over each of which, in a few hours, develops a tiny blister Lone Buite News ON THURSDAY evening the chil- dren’s Christmas Tree and concert was held in the Hall. The children were well versed in their parts. The progam was short, after which there was carol singing by the community. Then came Santa who gave out many nice presents, after which refresh- ents were served. ON FRIDAY evening the Butte Community Club held monthly meeting in the hall. Lone their MISS J. FRASER left for the coast for Christmas holidays. BILLY HAINES, son of Mrs. J. Mackie, is home for Christmas. BENARDS SAWMILLS LTD. have closed down until after New Years. MR. and MRS. H. WOODROW and Teddy took a trip on Saturday morn- ing’s train to Williams Lake. BILL COOK and MILT ViDITO were on a trip to Clinton and Ash- croft on Friday, gathering Xmas cheer. CHRIS HORN shipped out a car of export ties last week. SATURDAY NIGHT the weather gave us another six inches of snow. THE POSTMASTER, Wm. Davies, reports that he has never seen as much mail around Christmas ‘as there is this year. NICK WELYK is wo: Clinton, in THIS DISTRICT filled with clear fluid. In about 24 hours, this fluid has become cloudy and yellow. These spots then dry up and form a dry scab within a day or two. Scarring is variable but may be quite severe if the spots are seratehed. itching is common. The trunk and particularly the ab- domen are usually the first parts on which the rash shows itself and it| is here where it is most extensive. From these areas it spreads to the face, scalp and limbs. The inside of | the mouth is often affected early in the course of the disease. The erup- tion appears in successive crops over a period of two or three days, so that in the one patient spots in various stages of development can be seen at one time. This disease is almost as infec- tious as measles. It is infectious for from 24 hours before the rash comes out intil about six days after its ap- pearance. The patient must be iso- lated for 10 days from the appear- ance of the rash, Chicken-pox 1s one of the milder diseases and complications are rare. The main worry is the difficulty sometimes experienced in differenti- ting from a-typical smallax.
