outlet to the Pacific Coast “sooner

the five-man Board of Trade delega-
tion from Peace River district, de-
clined to give details of plans reveal-
ed to his group by Premier Bennett,
but he said the premier “is away
ahead of us” in plans for the rail
outlet.

The delegation, which came here
to press for action in building the
proposed rail link, came away con-
vinced that “We're going to get-a
railroad sooner than a lot of people
think,” Winchester said. .

Premier Bennett will lead a dele-
gation to Ottawa December 15 to ask
the federal government to put up
more money for development of B.C.
and extension of the Pacific Great
Eastern to Vancouver and the Peace
River country.

The delegation, however, said it
did not specifically ask that the PGE
be extended. .

“We want a railroad that will best
serve the present and future needs of
the district on the best advice of en-
gineers,” Winchester said.

At present, the Peace River coun-
try is connected to Vancouver only | &¥
by a rail line that detours via ra. | ;
monton. The coast outlet committee 4
met October 6 with Premier B. C.|
