Under the able super- vision of Mrs. H. W. Brown and a group of friends, made up for the most part of teen-age girls, the hall was suitably-decorated for the occa- sion in an autumn motif. The tables were decorated with silver horns-of- plenty which served the dual purpose ot flower holders and candlesticks. Lovely colored autumn leaves and flowers in vases completed the table decorations. The purpose of the meeting was to elect a president to take the place of Pete Newcombe. A Otson, form- erly vice-president exchanged places with Mr. Newcombe and the new di- rectors were elected, Mrs. B. Hooker, Mrs. G. Niquidet and Bill Reid are replacing Mrs. R. R. H. MacLeod, Mrs. M. Racher and Mr. C. Hooker, who have resigned. The affair was opened with the singing of the Doxology, Mrs. S. N.| Barrett at the piano. Rev. Fielder’s| splendid article on “Citizenship” was read by the secretary, Mrs, Far- rell after the close of the meeting. A group of girls sang, then Dr. J. Bar ton showed his moving pictures. From the ones who did so little to| make this affair a success, may we} say “Thank You” to those who work- ed so hard? ACCOMPANIED by her brother, Peter Williamson, Vancouver, Mrs. L. F. Walters and sons Larry and Mark were up from Kamloops to spend the week-end with Mrs. G. H.} Walters. Little Mark is to be guest of his grandmother for a couple of months. A. B. Williamson came back to Horsefly with Mrs. L. Walters. MISS ANN DAZBER, teacher at Miocene was the guest of Mrs. G. H. Walters for the week-end and at- tended the banquet at the hall. GLENN H. WALTERS was out from Limestone, Quesnel Lake, to bring his first party of big game hunt- ers and meet his second party. BIG CREEK EWS Truck Hauling Replaces Familiar Cattle Drives To Annual Sale The whine of trucks marks the path of the modern beef drive as A. M. Piltz, W. Bambrick and C. Henry have their beef itrangported to the Cattle Sale held at Williams Lake ihis week. Gus Piltz and Murray Taylor drove the Sky Ranch steers to the Chileo and had them tracked out from there, while the others were loaded from their home ranches here at Big Creek. é E. R. Hance of Hanceville was on the road earlier in the old-time yle, with a saddle horse, ‘doggies’ on foot and the long, slow drive ahead. The 40 head of smooth, fat TH beef would also reach Williams Lake in time for the Cattle Sale. The trip was successful, for their truck held two horses when they headed it homeward a few days later -— one purchased from Murray Taylor and one from Frank Witte. THE PILTZES (Mr. and Mrs. Ri- chard, Mr and Mrs. Eddie, Roy, and Louis Sr.,) are new to the Nasco country, having just acquired a ranch and settled there at the end of September. Their ranch, purchas- ed from Joe Sphar, consists of three places, is stocked with 300 head of cattle and lies some 55 miles west of Quesnel. R. Lone Butte News On Tuesday, September 29th Mr. and Mrs. C. Long, owners of the Cariboo Chalet and resort on Deka Lake had the misfortune to lose their house next to the chalet when it was completely destroyed by fire. The building was not covered by in- surance. ORVEL GIBSON has acquired a Ferguson Tractor with .a Davis Loader for loading gravel. It is quite a neat looking outfit. VIC FURRER and LES DOMAN were busy on Saturday shipping cattle via PGE. MR. and MRS. MIKE ZOMAR and family were away recentky to the coast. While they were away some- one threw a lot of rubbish and mess into their well. The water was utterly fouled and rendered unfit for use. MR. M. VIDITO has bought the Fred Sakrewzski cabin.
