COMING NEXT WEEK

Outstanding displays of British Columbia manufactured
products, quiz contests, valuable prizes and educational films
are expected to draw a record turnout to the B.C. Products
Show to be staged in the Elks Hall next Friday, September 25.

Taken this spring by Mrs. Gordon Blackwell of Black-
well’s Photo Service, this aerial shot of Williams Lake shows
how the town is growing up. Residents and those familiar with
the town will have no trouble picking out landmarks. For
others, here are a few points of interest: In the right fore-
ground is the planer mill of Lignum Ltd., squeezed between the
Railway Avenue and the Pacific Great Hastern railway live.
In the left foreground can be seen the Junior-Senior High
School and the Dormitory behind it, to the left of the school

again is War Memorial Arena. Looking beyond the roof of
this building the open space is a corner of the golf course. In
the left background can be seen a corner of Williams Lake and
the stockyards. The road stretching up the hill in the left centre
background leads out to the Chileotin and Dog Creek districts.
Railway Avenue in the right foreground as it. leaves the village
limits becomes the Soda Creek-Williams Lake highway leading
north. The town’s main street and business section is in the
centre of the picture.

Former Stage Coach Driver
Hit Of Parade in Ottawa

Arthur Haddock, one time stage driver on the Cariboo
Trail was the hit of the show at the opening day parade last

The day-long show, sponsored by
the B,C, Products Bureau of the Van-
couver Board of Trade, in conjunc-
tion with the Williams Lake and Dis-
trict Board of Trade, will be some-
thing new for local residents since
it is the first time it has been brougnt
into this part of the province.

In order to bring it before as manv
people as possible, the show will be
held in the daytime for the students
of the junior-senior high school, as
well as the regular evening showing.
The show for the students will fea-
ture quiz programs dealing with the
B.C. Products on display, a film on
industrial expansion and cash prizes

The evening show will be preceded
by a complimentary dinner being
tendered to the retailers of the town.

September 21 to 26 has been de-
clared B.C. Products Week and mer-
chants will co-operate by competing
in window displays featuring B.

Two of these brought back mem-
ories of the old days in British Col-
umbia for the visitor. One trip w

Hilda Cameron, niece of the legend-
ary Cariboo miner, who is now S%
