He drove his car out on Roe Lake on the ice. The car went through and. promptly sank to the head lights. Luckily there were two other cars there and ‘somehow they got him out. THE Hard Times Dance given at the Double T Hall last Saturday night was a success. Not too large a crowd, but enough to fill the door nicely, and everyone seemed to have 4 wonderful tife. Prizes for the best “Hard Time” outfits went to Mr. and Mrs. Mae Thomasen. MIKE MIDDLETON is leaving next week to go buck to his old job at logging. MR. and MRS. Mr. and Mrs. T. Farrell and family, Alberta, are among the new residents. Pete Neweombe’s brother Stan, has also come in with his family. Others are settling up the 108 Road and Beaver Valley. RANCHERS are getting a bit wor- ried over their future hay crops, as day after day brings cloudless skies and warm winds. With such little snow the past winter and no rain the ground is getting very dry. Usually at this time of year mud is the troublesome topic, but it is the dust now that brings the scowls. GLEN WALTERS has turnea some of his cattle out to range. MRS. BUD GIBBONS returned home April 15, from a lengthy, en- joyable trip. Mrs. Gibbons visited her _ son in Oakland, California, taking in the interesting sights in that area. She also visited extensively in Se- attle, then went to Vancouver. B.C.. to be with her mother, Mrs. Alva Campbell. HARRY BROWN is in the Kam- loops hospital recuperating from an operation. MRS. B. HOOKER is graduaily getting back her energy after her stay in Kamloops hospital. She flew from Kamloops to Williams Lake, then home by car. Mr. and Mrs. B. Reid returned with Mrs. Hooker, but they came up by bus. MR. and MRS. L. F. WALTERS were down at Vancouver for a brief holiday, while their youngest son, Mark, stayed with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Walters. A MINIATURE STAMPEDE can be witnessed about once a week at the Calloway Ranch. G. Thomson and O. MacDougall are getting the youngsters interested in riding steers. Their star pupils so far are Benny and Isadore MacDougall. LES BLAIN came home Sunday from Prince George, where he has been working. MR. and MRS. J. M. WILLIAMS are in Vancouver visiting their chil- dren and Mrs. Williams’ brother John Bruce, who is in very poor health, in Shaughnessy Militery-Hospital. _— MRS. B. Bridge Lake. Their son Mike and bride, who were married a few weeks ago, will be coming to the resort in about a month. MR. and MRS. ALEC MacMillan of Lone Butte attended the dance at Bridge Lake Saturday night.
