BIG CREEK ai Ranchers Looking For Strays From Air Taking to the air on February Jst, modern cowboys made a quick sur- vey of rugged, snow covered range land where cattle, missed in the win- ter round-up, might still be rustling. John Wade with pilot Hugh Fancy and accompanied by Duane Witte and Jim Bonner, flew for 5% hours over the whitewater, Big Creek and Porcupine country. Alhough a sharp lookout was kept no cattle were seen. About 200 moose were counted from the air, a small number for the im- mense area of good moose country covered in the flight. WALKING AROUND with the dis- comfort of a few yards of tape cover- ing his torso, Jim Bonner consoles himself with the thought that it might have been a cast instead. Jim is suffering from a cracked rib and torn muscles which resulted when a heavy horse went over him while sorting stock in the corral. J. Cas- selman drove him to Williams Lake for medical attention. ONE OF OUR GENTLE MOOSE has come home! The cow that last winter ate hay from our hands and came to the call of man, is back again! She was seen Friday by R. Church and Ralph Uptigrove on the far side of Church’s ranch. We know it’s the same one — for, to our sur prise and delight the rope and name plate placed around her neck last March, are still there. WITH A LOAD of horsemeat on board Ralph Uptigrove of Vancou- ver left for the coast Monday. This is the first of a series of trips he expects to make in the near future. The meat will be converted into feed for fur bearing animals. VETERINARIAN FOWLER made the rounds on Big Creek this week vaccinating calves for Bangs disease. MURRAY TAYLOR is feeding eattle at the meadow for Scallon Bros. / RICHARD PILTZ of Abbotsford is staying here to look after things at the Sky Ranch while his uncle Gus Piltz, is on a trip south. MRS. TOM WILSON returned home from Kamloops hospital last week. MARY HUTCHINSON left for Alexis Creek Saturday to go to work jn the Outpost Hospital R. M. WATT returned from Chil- liwack on Thursday.
