Saturday night Bert wound up the season with a ban- quet and dance for the team and their friends. The Lone Butte team won the Lews Cup, which was presented at the dance. Frank Uyehara, official scorekeeper, made a brief speech in handing the cup to Jack DeVries who is general manager of the South Cariboo softball league. Jack DeVries gave a resume of the history of the league since its forma- tion in 1946. Lone Butte has won the cup three times during his period, ha always been in the play-offs, and is the only team to win the cup two years in succession. The dance was a great success. Ray Wise was elected president, and other officers were Wm. Kyall, vice- president; Mrs. Betty Prest, secretary- treasurer. It was decided to hold the Christmas Tree dance on November 4. After the meeting some interesting and educational films provided by the National Film Board were shown. The Parent-Teacher Association came into being here just a year ago, and for a young organization, has done ‘y well., The year’s work included rd parties, discussions, a debate, special speakers, an ice carnival, a masquerade, and various parties for cenagers.
