Zaroubin, Canadian representative of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, will address a public rally in the Orpheum Theater on Sunday, November 25, and will speak io the delegates attending the B.C. Re- gional Congress of the Canadian Soviet Friendship Council. ‘A call to the conference hos been sent to a broadly repres- entative group of public and la- bor organizations, and the event is expected to be of major im- portance in Vancouver’s schedule of events. At a’ceremony in Ottawa on November 7, the Prime Minister and members of the ¢abinet will Sign the first pages of what will become a national book of ‘sig - natures pledging Canadian-Sov- iet friendship and unity.-Spon- sored by the National - Council for Canadian Soviet Friendship, the book of names will be .signed by- provincial government leaders and circulated for signatures. by local. Canadian-Soviet Friend- ship Counci!s to every Canadian who.desires strengthened unity between the two nations. Dr..E..:J. Pratt, well-known Canadian poet, will write a “Vic- tory Greeting” to the people of the USSR which will appear. on every sheet of the finally as- sembled book. It is planned to present the volume to. the Sov-|[ iet people through a Canadian- Soviet Friendship delegation headed by presidént R. H. Davis. Every organization and com- munity group will be sent signa- ture sheets so that all who endorse and advocate a policy of friendship between Can- ada and the USSR may ex- press their desire to aid in its achievement by signing the book.
