gates to the conference where
ten will be chosen to represent
Canada, and will include young

bor, religious and racial group-

overseas,

Stressing that Canada must
send food and aid to Europe for
not only economic reasons, but
for humanitarion reasons, Phil-
lips scored the attitude certain

pointed out that starvation faces
Belgium, France and other parts
of Europe, and that their only
hope of salvation lies in liberal
assistance from Canada and the
United States. “After seeing the
condition of people on-the con-
.timent it is difficult to under-
stand how Caandians, who have
njoyed relative plenty through-
cut the war, can oppose any
measures. that will ease the bur-
den under which the people of
Europe are struggling.”

Phillips is at present enjoying
a well-earned holiday on Van-
couver Island, and it is expected
that later issues of P.A. will
carry a series of articles dealing
with his impressions while over-
seas and since his return.
