[Toronto Conference Will Form Federation Of Democratic Youth Trade Unions -- Youth Clubs Endorse Project A national conference to establish a democratic youth organization -for social action has been called by the National Committee for a Federation Stewart, Committee Chairman ference is to meet in Toronto, of Democratic Youth, Bill has announced. The lesson of the war has been that victory can be won through working, to- gether. Young people need to get together in one organization. We must organize more youth and be ready to take part in a movement of the people for jobs and security.” Jobs, vocational training, re- creation, health, rehabilitation, citizenship, are all on the agenda of the Conference. In addition it is planned to have sessions on methods of organization and how to focus public attention on young people’s needs. The Conference will name the new organization, adopt a con- stitution and draw up a pro- gram of action. Any interested youth club is entitled to send a delegate. Clubs with a member- ship of over 100 are permitted two delegates. The conference arrangements committee is plan- ning a full social program for the entertainment of delegates. “The proposal for a new youth organization has receiv- ed strong backing from organ- ized labor,” Bill Stewart point- ed out. “The Canadian sec- tions of the United Automo- bile Workers, the United Elec- trical Workers and the Inter- “Woodworkers and a number of local national unions in- cluding the two largest union locals in the country, the Boilermakers’ in Vancouver and the Ford Local of the UAW-CIO in Windsor have all endorsed the project.
