PARTISAN MOVEMENT

When the old ruling class of
Yugoslavia shamefully capitu-
lated to the Nazis in 1941, the
Communist Party initiated the
struggle against the invader.
Posing no questions about poli-
tical belief, the liberation move-
ment gave free access to its
ranks of all people willing to
fight for liberty. By the time
victory over Hitler was won, the
| Partisan movement had become
the heart and soul of the libera-
tion struggle, and under the
name of the National Front Or-
ganization, united the Commun-
ist -and Social Democratic par-
ties, the Croat Peasant . Party,
the Independent Democrats..and
the half-million members of ‘the
trade unions.

mention of the word “reform.”

of the coalition with the Conser-
vatives in _provincial polities,

Liberal members and supporters,
has come into the open here with
resignation of Mayor John Gor-
don of Rossland, vice-president of
Rossland: Trail Liberal Assn.

n a letter made public re-
cently, Mayor Gordon sharply
criticised the decision of the as-
sociation to continue the pres-
ent coalition with the Tories,
pointing out that the meeting
where such decision was made
was not representative of the rid-
ing, and charging that certain
Tory officials of Consolidated
Mining and Smelting had “al-
ready commenced a policy of in-
filtration into Liberal party
ranks.”
