Payments ToCCFBared

In Steelworkers Leaflet

A leaflet debunking statements by C. H. Millard, Na-
tional Director of the United Steel Workers that no money
was paid o the CCE, and including photostatic copies of cor-

respondence (reproduced on

this page) exposing that pay-

ments were paid directly to the CCF, was issued this week.

A’ letter republished in the
leaflet states in part, “He
(Shaky Robertson) wishes you
to find some other and more
secret means of supplying
money for CCE trade union
purposes” indicating that the
payments of USW funds ‘were
made to the CCF.

The leaflet, which drags an

issue out into the open that the
national executive of steel have |

epparently been attempting to
keep hushed up, places charges
that as yet have not been answ-
ered by any of the individuals
involved in the republished cor-
respondence.

A record of correspondence, in-
dicating that funds have been us-
ed regularly for other than trade
union purposes, and signed by
elected representatives of the
membership of the Steelworkers
Union without the sancation of
the membership is republished
in the leafiet, which makes the

“We are appealing to all
members and locals of the
USWA in Canada to add your
Voice to ours m order that the
payment of our union funds
to finance a political party be
stopped and an investigation
made, in order that our union
in future may follow sound
trade union policies in the best
interests of our membership
and the trade union movement
of Canada.”

_ The leaflet published by Local

signature of Coray Campbell,
President of the local was repub-
lished by the Boilermakers and
