The campaign to establish a youth centre in the city is well under way and there is a possibil- #iy that there may be several such centres in Vancouver before the winter is over. Many prominent figures 4 tne labor and sports movement are taking an active interest im the campaign. Charles Stewart, execu- tive member of Vancouver Trades and Labor Council is all for sup- portine “the youne folks in their endeavors.” “We- need such centres,” he stated this week “not only to edu- eeate the young worker already or ganized, but in order to ain youne organized workers closer to the progressive movement.” Harry Miller, Vancouver Sports Club maestro, has announced that his club is willing to stage a series ef Sunday night affairs to aid the eampaisn in cooperation with the sponsors of the movement. Matvenko is a lieutenant in the Canadian Mackenzie-Papineau Bat- talion. The news was received in a let ter written by Matvenko to his father here. He said that he had received bullet wounds to the necx and shoulder and that his arm had ben injured by flying stones.
