CBC Plans Drama Competition Theatre Of Action Gets Invite In Radio Festival Vancouver Theatre of Action has been invited by the Ca- nadian Broadcasting Corporation to participate in a radio drama festival which the @BR is arranging, Jack Newman, acting ex- ecutive director of the group, announced this week. Among plays under consideration by the group as suitable festival material, Newman stated. is Archi- bald MclLeish’s ‘“‘Fall of the City.’’ The group is going into rehearsal immediately with several short mo- bile plays, including “Embargo,” a new sketch by Harold Griffin cen- tred around SBritish Columbia's position on the Pacific. Rehearsals on “Class of ’29,” which were curtailed during pro- duction of “Return At Sunset” for the Dominion Drama Festival, are being increased and the Theatre of Action also plans to revive “Blocks,” & one-act peace play with which it had considerable success Jast fall. The extensive program calls for a large acting group and the cast- ing committee is anxious to get in touch with all former members who wish to try out for parts.
