OLLYWOOD.—(FP).—Second to no other show, whether in the line
of benefits or commercials, was the party given by the Hollywood
Anti-Nazi League for the Defence of American Democracy, to celebrate
its first anniversary. President Donald Ogden Stewart opened with the
remark that while Hitler had not been dislodged by the leasue’s year
of existence, satisfactory progress could be reported and if the Hollywood
<olony stuck with the league it would g0 on to bigger and better efforts
against der Fuehrer. The show was two and a half hours of million-
dollar entertainment. :

Qn the program, capably produced and accompanied by Johnny Green
and his orchestra, were Joe Lewis (who did a great job as impromptu
miaster of ceremonies), Judy Garland, Gordon and Revel, Jimmy Durante,
Ben Blue, Robert Benchley and Charles Butterworth, Tony Martin,
Reginald Gardiner, Frances’ Langford, Sigmund Romberg, Benny Good-
man and his quartette, Virginia Verrill and Don Ameche. We haven't
room to tell what each one did or how good they were. A list of the
celebrities attending (at $10 a plate) would fill a couple of columns like
this. Not forgetting Milt Gross’ indescribable drawings for the Anti-Nazi

Wee WANGER announces that he'll make a technicolor history
: of California. California is to be the title. Paramount has three color
films slated, on land, sea and air: Ebb Tide, Men with Wings and Beau
Geste, A real technicolor boom. This, as any other boom, has its draw-
backs. They say now that Wanger may make a color film with Marion
