TWENTY-FIVE MORE NEARLY DEAD There are at the present time 25 Chinamen who are sick in beds in rooms and hovels, suffering from the ef- fects of the slow starvation diet at the Soup Kitchen. Seme are expected to die any day; they are all suffering from the lack of proper food. The only food they got at this Soup Kitchen was rice and vegetables. They are un- able to withstand the climate in Canada on such a diet, and whilst it may keep them alive in China when it is Warm weather, it is insufficient here in the winter. He is a naturalized subject of B.C.. and he helped to build the CPR. railroad Canada and is 73 years of age.
