Eng., FILE: 900-290 City Engineer COQUITLAM RIVER CROSSING RECOMMENDATION: The purpose of this memorandurn is to outline some background information regarding the proposed feasibility study for the Coquitlam River crossing. BACKGROUND: 1) | Request for proposals "Feasibility Study for the Coquitlam River Crossing North of Lougheed Highway”, dated April 15, 1993. 2) Memorandum from the Deputy City Engineer regarding the evaluation of consultant proposals for the Feasibility Study for a Coquitlam River Crossing dated August 5, 1993. A portion of the City of Coquitlam Official Community Plan showing the proposed crossing of the Coquitlam River. Letters to UMA Engineering Ltd. and Reid Crowther dated August 10, 1993 from the City of Coquitlam advising the consultants of the status of this feasibility study. DISCUSSION: I have spoken with Neil Nyberg, City Engineer and Ken Wright, Deputy City Engineer regarding Coquitlam’s position on the Coquitlam River crossing and the feasibility study. It was noted that the Coquitlam River Crossing is included in the Coquitlam O.C.P. (See attachment 3) and the Coquitlam Development Cost Charge Bylaw. Coquitlam has no plans to construct the Coquitlam River Crossing in the near future. Coquitlam has informed the consultants that chis project is on hold (see Attachment 4) pending a decision to proceed from Port Coquitlam. Mr. Nyberg noted that Coquitlam will consider proceeding with the study after Port Coquitlam's decision to jointly fund the study is received. [note the following features regarding the proposed feasibility study: 1) The purpose of this study is to look at the feasibility of numerous options regarding the Coquitlam River Crossing for Planning purposes only.
