JHE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM NOY 27 1978 TO: Mayor and Council November 23rd, 1978 FROM: F.E. Peters, FP. Eng., City Engineer Re: Clearing of Park Site at Imperial & St. Michael Street The Chairman of the Leisure Activities Cormittee has requested that I bring this item to Council since a Committee Meeting is not scheduled prior to the Council Meeting. The park dedicated by Szafranski in his develop- ment at Imperial and St. Michael was originally intended to be used for tennis. The Committee has discussed this park and feels that it would be inappropriate to suggest the construction of tennis courts at this time. Neverthe- less, it is apparent that some selective clearing of this site will be necessary regardless of when the tennis courts would be constructed. This clearing would best be done prior to the completion of the housing development. Any clearing, and burning if necessary, will be much more Gifficult to do once people have moved into the development. We have received an offer from Szafranski to do the clearing for $3,850.00 with an additional contingency allowance of $320.00 for additional work beyond removal of the trees which are not marked to be saved. We also obtained an approximate quotation from Millers Excavating for $2,450.00 plus a contingency of $340.00 for the same amount of work. The above figures are not tenders and the prices would have to be confirmed prior to award of the work. However, I recommend that Council approve of the selective clearing of this site at an approximate cost of $3,000.00 with the funds to be taken out of the Parks Development Reserve. Respectfully submitted, A Hh if , . rd AevB. png., City Engineer.
