REMARKS:

Ja review of our combined records of Coquitlam Detachment for 1972, in
comparison to the combined records of the former Port Coquitlam and
Malillerdville vetachments for 1971, we find a general increase in occurrence

involvement. Breaking this cown into statute categorics, we find a 21%
increase in Criminal Code; 12% increase in Federal matters; 6% in Provincial::
45% in Municipal and a @rop of 2% in assistance cases. Traffic involvement

showed a 48% increase.

The recent Festive Season was cause for special traffic duties by
twenty members. This proved to be sufficient Gcterrent towards maintaining
safe Griving conditions. an estimate of 6,900 vehicles were stupped and
checked. Only four impaired drivers were charced, 30 given a 24-hour
susvension and 3212 raceived traffic notices, mostly for defects to their
vehicles. Whe wide publicity given these checks and the checks by the
neighbouring Police Lepartnents was surely beneficial to our seasonal
prograhy. .” /
